I must admit I was clearly shocked when I received Sean's invoice. He charged $70 an hour for very basic handyman-type services including replacing a door knob, assembling a small couch and buying and placing some tiles out by my fence. I did not ask him what his rate was prior to engaging him. I assumed it would be reasonable and in the same range as other individuals I've hired previously. That was my mistake... Sean was on time, very pleasant and did the work to my satisfaction. I get that when someone like Sean is doing craftsmen-type work it will cost more, but to charge $70 an hour for the most basic of repair services seems outrageous to me.
