I loved dealing with Steve and the company as a whole. First, they were truly always responsive. I never felt like I had to hound them for a response. I never had to wait long to hear back when I had a question, problem, setback, whatever. My project wasn't easy due to problems lining up contractors for insulation and vents and such in timely fashion, but McKenzie Roofing always rolled with it. And the roof, well, it's gorgeous. This company was recommended to us so in April 2021 we signed a proposal with them. Every few months, I would take the initiative to check in with them to see how much longer we would need to wait. Steve Schucklebier repeatedly told us in “just a few months” or that we were “5th in line”. Really, he just strung us along for an ENTIRE year because it’s May 2022 and now we’ve found out that he took us off the waitlist. Even with our conversations in writing, he didn’t seem to remember the timeline of events and blew us off. He was unprofessional in his conversations with us, extremely slow to respond, and lacked the integrity to be honest with us. Possibly one of the most forgetful and disorganized contractors we’ve worked with in years. Do not use these guys. They aren’t trustworthy and are completely dishonest. In 2020 I hired McKenzie Roofing to install the metal roof on my newly built log cabin. They'd done the roof on my Mom's house and also carried out the inspection of the roof when I had to sell my Mom's house pending her time there (and on this planet). I want to tell you how awesome these guys are. 1. My log cabin. It took me 2 year to finish the build, and when it came to inspection, the inspector wanted proof that I had insulation in the roof. I didn't have photos! They wanted to cut into my ceiling since I had no photos! In desperation, I called Steve at McKenzie Roofing, and he checked with the guys who'd done the roof, and one of them had a photo showing the tarp over the insulation. He also said the guys remembered the insulation and would vouch to the inspector that it was there. Yay! The inspector accepted this as enough evidence of the insulation. I AM SO GRATEFUL! 2.
