Bassett Services: Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, & Electrical

We had another company scheduled for a clogged kitchen drain, but at the last minute, they pushed us off for a few days. Bassett got out here same day, Carl was professional and efficient, and got it unclogged very quickly despite our quirky house. Plus this was about $30 less than the original company's special. Could not have turned out better!

First, it’s important I mention the scheduler/dispatcher and serviceman were courteous, friendly and professional. There was absolutely no problem there. Plus, he showed up when he was scheduled. Great. Our problem: there’s a break somewhere along a 100’ underground power line to the pole barn. Probably due to a burrowing animal. But where was the break? I called for Bassett to simply come out, trace the 100’ line and tell me where to dig. We’re not talking major electrical work here but rather a 20-30 minute job, if that. Just trace it, point to the ground and say, “Dig there.” Their estimate: $499. Ouch. Now, I get that things are expensive. I do. But I declined and, of course, still had to pay the $69 service fee. So, I’ll buy a tracer for a one-time use and do it myself. Not a good way to start the day.

Not long ago we had a hot day and it seemed that my Geothermal system was not cooling correctly, and so I called Basset on Friday (May 5th, 2023) and they had a technician come out to look at the system. After about an hour he let me know that he was not able to do a pressure test of the loop as he could not get the fitting off and get his equipment on, as worst of all that the compressor on the system had failed and being that it was an older unit that the cost to repair would be around $7k and we would be better off replacing it. They then asked me if I would like to have someone come out to give me a quote, I said yes, and the quoting guy came within the hour. After going over the options he informed me that they had a system in stock and that they could replace it on Monday, and it would cost $27k
