The company foreman, Dennis S., installed a kitchen backsplash for us. I made a major mistake in trusting they knew what they were doing and would be honest. Another major mistake I made was not doing a proper inspection before writing a check. The tile was chewed up, broken, and uneven all the way around (see photos). There was no space between the mosaic tile sheets; they were stacked directly on top of each other. When I asked why they didn’t use spacers I was given a ridiculous reply. There were other issues more minor, to include 3 outlets that were fried because he did not turn off the electricity before using a wet sponge to clean the grout off. We requested the job be redone. I asked the owner Robert G. to come to our home twice, both times he refuse and threatened to take us to court if we did not accept taking a couple hundred off the bill. My chimney/chase/siding and cap were in need of repairs due to wind damage and just poor construction initially. Michigan’s Handyman dispatched Steve to check out the situation which was anxiety ridden for me. I knew it was not going to be an inexpensive repair and I felt there were going to be many unknowns. Steve engendered much confidence and after talking to him for a little while I knew I had the right outfit to repair my damaged chase/siding/cap. Steve and Joe had the main portion of the work done in one day (a new cap/flashing had to be sent out for fabrication). These guys didn’t even take a lunch break. They followed up in a couple of days to complete the work. I’m very happy with the results and there are many details that I am leaving out here. Suffice it to say these guys are on my short list for future projects.
