I signed a contract with Troy to build a new deck. After day one he tried to tell me I owed him $1500 more because he couldn’t use the old support, which was obviously rotted out, and needed replaced. We agreed that he was replacing the whole deck in the beginning, not trying to salvage the old one. The deck was built, but was flimsy and gave when you walked on it. He charged me $1000 more to add the proper joists to make it right. The job is “done.” My gutter downspouts are sitting in my backyard. There are chalk lines and dirt all over the deck, and I’m going to have to power wash it myself. They didn’t clean up my garage, but left the old deck posts with cement. Overall this has been a nightmare. I got a deck from a lot of bargaining and unnecessary hassle that I’m going to have to put a lot of work in to make it right.
