The process of evaluating contractors to finish a basement is a daunting task for most homeowners. You want to make sure you find someone that is skilled, pays attention to details, prioritizes your project, but is also reasonably priced. I'm familiar with swinging hammers, running electrical, mudding and drywall, but at this scale would have taken me at least a year to complete this project on my own. That still wouldn't have garunteed it would be done right or done at all! That's why I decided to hire a contractor to oversee the entire project and minimize my headaches.
