Argent Heating & Cooling

First time homeowner here. Called for HVAC service and inspection. Our tech was awesome. He was friendly and very helpful, explaining to us all the components and showing us the instruments used and what the readings meant. Will keep Argent in mind when it comes time to replace the system.

Argent was called late morning and technician arrived in the early afternoon. Technician was very thorough. He has been to our home before to perform preventive maintenance and was very professional. Service: Install thermostat

The technician came to look at our AC and charged 165$ to tell us what we told him before, that AC is leaking refrigerant. I’m ok with this charge because we agreed on the price before hand. He then proceeded to estimate that the repair would cost 400$ more for labor and 1,400$ for 7 lbs of the refrigerant. Then he argued that it’s a better deal for us to change entire unit because it’s too old, 11 years old. He also told us to change the fan motor because it’s rusty outside. We got a different technician to come and fix the whole thing for less than 600$. The refrigerant cost us 65$ per pound for 3 lbs, I.e. three (!) times cheaper per pound. The fan motor turned out to work still within the specs. It’s needless to say, we’re not going to call Argent anymore when other technicians charge significantly less for the same work and materials
