John at Coastal Blue Electric was referred to me by the property manager of my apartment building to check recent faulty rewiring done by another electrician. He is detail oriented, punctual, and respectful of tenants with whom he schedules appointments with directly so that he can ask questions and listen to their experiences with snapping circuit breakers. He opened the circuit breaker panel and immediately found and fixed questionable work by the other electrician. He labelled every outlet and wall switch cover with the breaker number so that we can trace and diagnose potentially faulty wiring and breakers. I used this company because they had availability the day I called and I was having electrical issues. The owner who came out was very nice and professional. He took off a few light fixtures to find corrosion in them, but couldn’t give me an exact answer to the problems I was having because he said he had never seen anything like it before. We chatted a bit about different things that it could be, but I don’t recommend that. This company charges $100 per hour and I got a bill for $390 and nothing was done. This family owned company is very nice, but I was blown away to see the bill for nothing being done and expected more of a service fee than a bill for $390. And if he was here for 3 hours, where does the $90 come from? The invoice doesn’t really break down anything and I don’t understand why/how it cost so much to come out and just take off a couple light fixtures and then give no answer. But I do appreciate their time and fast service.
