Capistrano Air

I returned home on a Saturday and was greeted by a heat wave and a hot house. I turned on the air conditioning and heard "pop!" followed by the smell of acrid smoke. Worse, there was no cool air. I called Capistrano Air and they were able to schedule an appointment for Wednesday. Luis arrived, and quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown transformer in my forced air unit. He then recognized that there was an electrical short somewhere in my system. He took the time to troubleshoot it thoroughly before diagnosing a problem with my old Nest Thermostat. The blown transformer and increased voltage likely overheated a component within. As an electrical engineer, Luis' explanation made sense to me. I did not feel like he was trying to exaggerate the problem in order to inflate the invoice. I said I would replace the thermostat on my own. And I did. Luis even cleaned out our condenser.
