Scott arrived on time. Very friendly and nice. I had a very simple request. I needed a 30 Amp plug put on my outside electrical box. That's it. Scott talked pretty much nonstop about everything else but what that simple job would cost. Even getting annoyed did not stop him from nattering on about all the repairs my outside electrical box needed..according to him, the inside of the box was terribly corroded. It wasn't as it had been replaced just two years prior. Then he insisted I needed an entirely new box because there was no space to put the need components for the 30 Amp plug...there were two open spaces. Then he insisted that the wiring run to my barn was inadequate and all needed replacing. Not true, it all meets code 100%. He was finally asked to leave when he gave us a 10,000$ estimate to replace the perfectly fine electrical box and a 3,500$ estimate to install a simple 30 Amp plug. Won't EVER call a mr.sparky electrician again.
Mister Sparky sent out their best; Master Electrician Chris Kidwell. He was on time and was very professional. He took time to explain various technical details and options available for my generator hookup to my house which helped me reach a decision on how to proceed. I called because I needed an estimate on replacing a cutoff switch to my well pump. I was specific in that I already had the switch and only needed for it to be installed, a new cover for the box and possibly a new box. I told the scheduler that I had already received one estimate for $280 and that if their electrician thought their estimate would be higher (based on what I had described was needed), he didn't need to come out. She said she would note all of my comments and share them with the electrician. He came out this morning and looked at the switch, which needed exactly what I had described. I asked for an estimate. Instead, he asked to see the breaker panel. I showed it to him and he talked extensively about preventive maintenance, how I use my electricity, surge protectors, fire alarms, etc. I said, "What I really need is an estimate on the switch". His response was,"Our first priority would be the reason we were called out", but still no estimate. As it turned out, the panel
